WHAT ARE BIFOCAL LENSES?
Bifocal lenses are eyeglass lenses that contain two different prescription powers in a single lens, allowing the wearer to see clearly at both distance and near ranges. They are primarily used to correct presbyopia—an age-related condition where the eye gradually loses the ability to focus on close objects.
Typically, the upper part of the lens is for distance vision, while the lower part is for near vision (like reading or phone use). This dual-power design eliminates the need to switch between two pairs of glasses.

These have a distinct “D” shaped segment in the lower portion of the lens for near vision. The segment is usually 28mm or 35mm wide (FT-28 or FT-35). Offers a clear boundary line between distance and near prescriptions.

The Round bifocal segment is more circular and smaller, and it’s embedded within the lens. Designed to be less noticeable than traditional D-lined lenses. The round bifocals are more aesthetically pleasing.
