What Are Lens Coatings?
Lens coatings are ultra-thin layers applied to the surface of eyeglass lenses to enhance their performance, durability, and comfort. These coatings are typically invisible to the eye but can significantly improve the clarity, protection, and lifespan of your lenses.
Coatings can be added to both prescription and non-prescription lenses, and they serve a variety of purposes depending on your lifestyle and visual needs.
THE 4 TYPES OF LENS COATINGS:
1. Anti-Reflective (AR) Coating:
Also known as anti-glare coating, AR coating eliminates reflections and glare from the front and back surfaces of your lenses. This allows more light to pass through, improving clarity and comfort.
2. Blue Cut Lens Coating:
This coating is specifically designed to filter out high-energy blue light emitted from digital screens, LED lights, and sunlight. Also known as blue light blocking coating.
3. Anti-Fog Coating:
An advanced coating that prevents condensation from forming on the lens surface in environments with high humidity or when there's a sudden temperature change.
4. Hydrophobic Coating:
This is a water-repellent coating that prevents water, oil, smudges, and dust from sticking to the lens surface. It helps keep lenses cleaner for longer.
