Corridor Heights

The progressive lenses offer a 3-way vision range to empower our near, far and intermediate sight. This lens ensures that our overall lens surface is being utilized to sharpen vision.

But - at the same time, using the right methods to measure your progressive lenses before getting them edged, beveled and polished holds the key to having a successful vision.

Corridor height is one of the most integral aspects of measuring the right size of progressive lenses and to ensure a way to fit them into your chosen frame.

Knowing that some frames are either loose, slightly tight or have a balance of both, their oscillation or face movement may also affect the fitting of the lenses. Also, choosing the correct corridor length initiates a correct placement of the lenses which cover the total surface area of the vision.

Frame Height Contour:

Our target corridor length of the progressive lenses co-relates big time with the frame style and size to ensure that no vision range on the lens surface shares a conflict point with one another. Likewise, PD is also essential in measuring the right contour of the lenses. This measurement also paves an ideal way to achieve the total area dedicated to the reading vision range seamlessly.

Vortex Distance:

Vortex Distance demonstrates the eyes declination intercept with the designed lens surface. It is essential to measure the vertex distance depending on the length of the corridor. For longer ones, the vertex distance needs to spread out while the shorter corridors represent a closer vertex distancing from the area holding the vision range.

5 Most Common Fitting Issues With Progressive Lenses!

Scenario

- Your reading area is narrow.

- You have to lift your head or glasses to read.

- Your distant vision is slightly blurry.

- You move reading material off to the side for better focus.

- You lower your head or glasses to read at a distance.

SOLUTION

- Check your fitting height and
PD measurements.

- Decrease fitting height.

- Widen up the nose pads.

- Have your lenses remade with
the correct PD measurements.

- Adjust the frames to sit higher
on your face.
